Chapman University, founded in 1861, is one of the oldest, most prestigious private universities in California. Chapman’s picturesque campus is located in the heart of Orange County – one of the nation’s most exciting centers of arts, business, science and technology – and draws outstanding students from across the United States and around the world. Known for its blend of liberal arts and professional programs, Chapman University encompasses seven schools and colleges. The university is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2011.

The Chapman University School of Computational Science includes classes leading to a minor in Game Development. Students graduating with this minor are prepared to compete for positions in the rapidly growing areas of interactive media and game development. In addition to the games created for entertainment and educational purposes, there is an emerging genre of serious games designed to help make decisions in public policy, corporate management and health care. The curriculum for the minor has been designed in consultation with our advisory board of industry professionals from companies including Blizzard, Sony, inXile and Obsidian.

Within just a few miles of Chapman University are many attractions, including the original Disneyland and the neighboring Disney’s California Adventure Theme Parks, which together form Anaheim’s world-renowned Disneyland Resort. This granddaddy of all theme parks allows visitors to experience many of the adventures of Disney films and televisions shows spanning decades with interactive rides and discovery areas.

Attendees at the 2011 IGIC will be able to experience both stimulating discussion and presentations on the latest developments in game technology and its uses as well as visit the original Disneyland and other delights available only in sunny Southern California.


Tour of Disney Worldwide Headquarters

Newton Lee, co-author of Disney Stories: Getting to Digital (2011) , is the exploration chair of IGIC 2011. He is the organizer of a tour to Disney Worldwide Headquarters in Burbank on November 4, 2011. The Burbank facility tour will focus on the history of Disney.
